Our Philosophy

When Gill Tree the creator of "It's a jungle out there!" tm became lost in the African jungle for five days on her own in, she became fascinated by how the mind works during survival and pressure situations. Her studies have led her to realize that her adventures in the jungle have many similarities with life in organizations. Gill devised our stress management course titled " Performing under Pressure " and created an interactive training programme incorporating a board game for the corporate world called "It's a jungle out there! " to challenge the participant and think beyond their normal limitations. We teach how to thrive in the concrete jungle, based on a very real experience of surviving the dangers of the African one.

The companies that will survive are going to move from an environment of management control to one that allows a large number of people, all using their creative ability, their education, and their motivation to take part. Now this change won't be easy. But it has to come.

Some notes on active learning and accelerated learning

  • Learning is a whole body and mind activity and includes ALL the senses and emotions
  • People learn best when they are active and not sitting for long
  • People work and learn best in collaboration with others

The training is creative, imaginative, child like and fun.

A bit about having fun

A study by Cornell University found that people who had just viewed a funny movie increased their "creative flexibility" and were better able to find creative solutions to puzzling problems than those who had not seen the film.
- HR Focus - February 1993

One can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation - Plato

This training is based on the following premises;

  • The difference between a mediocre organisation and a superb one is determined by whether all its' individual members are mediocre or superb.
  • All change starts within and is achieved one person at a time
  • Spontaneity, dynamism, fun, celebration, humour are essential components of a memorable training (and of a memorable organisation)
  • Work is an opportunity for us to make a contribution, come together as a community and effect change.
  • At work people yearn for an uplifting experience. This training provides the opportunity to lift people out of their everyday experience
  • People come alive through play and joining
